Privacy policy

The short version: we collect only what your label and your payment require, we never sell or share your information, and you can ask us at any time what we hold about you. The longer version is below, in plain language. Version 2.0, July 2026.

Who we are

Silver Plate Canada is a trading name of Electronic Distributors International Inc., Mississauga, Ontario ("we", "us"). This policy covers the silverplatecanada.ca website and our mail-in buying service. We follow Canada's federal privacy law for businesses, PIPEDA (the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act).

What we collect, and why

  • Label request: your name, mailing address, postal code, box sizes and weights, and your email or phone (whichever you choose). We use these to prepare your shipping label and send it to you. Nothing else is collected at this step.
  • Your parcel: the contents you send, which we photograph and record on video as described on the security page. This protects your items and documents our handling.
  • Your receipt and payment: the email or phone you gave us, plus the details needed to send an Interac e-Transfer or cheque.
  • Larger transactions: Canadian anti-money-laundering law (the PCMLTFA) requires us to verify identity on larger transactions and keep prescribed records. When that applies, we tell you before you are asked for anything.
  • Purchase register: for every purchase we record the item descriptions, photos, weights, prices and dates, and the seller's identity where the law requires it. This register is a fraud and stolen-goods control.

What we never do

  • We never sell, rent or share your information with marketers. Full stop.
  • We never add you to a newsletter you did not ask for. Label requesters get their label, their receipt and any quote they asked for, nothing else.
  • We never handle your card numbers or banking passwords. e-Transfer and cheques do not require them.
  • This website sets no advertising trackers and shows no third-party ads.

Who can see it

Only the people who need it to do the work: the staff who prepare labels, process parcels and send payments. Legal exceptions exist, and we name them: police, on a lawful request, consistent with our stolen-property controls; and FINTRAC, where the PCMLTFA requires reporting.

How long we keep it

Label-request details for people who never ship anything are deleted within 12 months. Purchase records, itemized receipts and processing video are kept at least 2 years (video) and as long as tax and anti-money-laundering laws require (records, typically 5 to 7 years).

Your choices and questions

You can ask what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete what the law does not require us to keep. Email contact@silverplatecanada.ca, call (416) 799-7528, or write to the privacy contact at Electronic Distributors International Inc., 2687 Slough St, Mississauga, ON L4T 1G2. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
